A highly strategic, senior position within the SP&IDD Strategic Proposals group, responsible for co-coordinating RFX responses for Alliance, Strategic and Key accounts. Will work closely with the Vice Presidents of A, S and K accounts, Integrated Drug Development (IDD) experts, Client Services/Business Development staff at the various Business Units (BUs), Senior Management and Covance Operational staff within the BUs. A pivotal role within the company, collaborating with multiple BUs to enhance client relationships and secure new business for Covance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead designated AS&K top opportunities from initial strategy meeting (including story board development) through bid defense presentation preparation
Engage key leaders within the business to refine strategy and obtain required inputs on RFXs
Work with the assigned parties to ensure value messages for client hot buttons are developed and articulated within the proposal and client presentation
Coordinate responses from various BU departments, especially for multi capability opportunities, review tenders from other Covance BUs for consistency
Review and incorporate pertinent pipeline information, Competitor Newsletter information and Win/Loss analysis feedback into proposal and presentation strategy
Support re-costs and prepare extra client information as required during the bidding process
Meet with key clients as appropriate to understand goals and objectives for specific proposals as well as relationship development/management
Participate in the mentoring and development of Associates within the Strategic Proposals function
Develop and maintain high levels of internal and external customer and employee satisfaction through relationship-building with internal customers and providing high quality proposals to external clients
Maintain proficient knowledge of current Covance services and trends in outsourcing to leverage strategic solutions
Support Director, Strategic Proposals as required
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Required:
- Years of experience in the job discipline - 5 years of directly related industry experience (preferable at Covance); 1-2 years in a leadership position.
- Other required work-related experience - Strong analytical, time management, negotiating, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Minimum Required:
Level of education required
Bachelors degree; Advanced degree preferred
In lieu of educational requirements, must have 7 years of directly related experience with 3 years experience in a leadership role.
